A 1 week old should have 1-3 oz every 3-4 hours. Some feedings may be more, some less. If you feed more during the day they may sleep a little longer at night because they won't need as many calories at that time.

Give them the same amount they were getting in the hospital, like 2 ounces and if they are still hungry give them more.
I've seen 3 day old babies taking 5 or 6 ounces.
So fix the bottles with 4 or 5 ounces and if they don't take it all just throw it out and give them a little less the next time.
Babies are all different and you just have to experiment.

I would say on average, newborns usually start out with 4-6 ounces about every 3-4 hours. But every baby is different. You can tell when your baby is hungry. They usually suck on their hands, lips, etc. Just watch your baby's reaction. You can always call your pediatrician... They may suggest switching formula if the baby doesn't seem to drink enough. Good luck!

I would start off small - 2 ounces or so. See how much they drink and then you can judge from there. But - if you are supplementing, you might make it a different amount. You want the breast milk to be the preferred. However, some women don't produce milk very well at all, so you do need to supplement.

You should be breast feeding so that they get the things they need from breast milk. But if you cannot then howeven much they want. Usually a bottle every couple hours.
