i like the turks as much as the next race of people. but i have a problem with there government. they refuse to acknowlege and deny the fact that they carried out a holocaust of the armenian people in 1915/16 resulting in the death of over a million & half armenians out of 2 million in there empire. this was genocide and should not be just forgotten and left in the past.but they deny it ever took place....

I didn't know any until my cousin married a Turk (15 years younger than her) about 3 years ago. I met him last year and he seemed really loving, nice and genuine, Then one day she came home from work and her son said some papers had arrived and he had packed up everything and gone. That was about 8 months ago and she still doesn't know where he is, although he may be with his brother in Scotland or his other brother nearby but her two friends who are married to them wont speak to her now, so I am feeling a little pessimistic and lacking trust at the moment.

hmmm hard 2 say, like you personally i have nothing against them either! even though we did fight the turks in ww1-i'm an aussie! however this was years ago and i belive no one should have 2 suffer from something that happened in the past. what they were doing was wring but they were trying to establish their countrys place in the world if u know what i mean.

maybe your teacher has grown up in a household that has personally had some kind of bad experience with the turks...my granpa was like that he fought the japanese in ww2 saw what attrocitites happened to his mates or collegues and hated them ever since his time fighting

i spose what it comes down to is this....people have different experiences in life and some may not be good. if someone has caused pain to another human being related directly closer to that person than they may end up hating the person, the race of person, the gender of the person or country. it may have happened quite a long time ago and to us it may seem insignificant but to them like your teacher the pain may have not gone away. people can hold grudges for a long time but maybe one day they will hopefully understand that thhis is not all bad

a good example of this is romeo and juliet and the two fighting households-same examle just on a smaller scale, apply this to larger situations and it aends witht he same result

hope this helps u out!

it could be that during WW1 they were Germany's allies until they switched sides because they were losing and in WW2 Throughout most of the war, Turkey proclaimed neutrality while providing Germany with raw materials such as its sole supply of chromite. It was not until February 1945 that Turkey declared war on Germany in order to secure a seat in the United Nations. Turkey did not participate in any military operations. They betrayed them again 6 months before the war was over for their own concern

my husband is Turkish and he's the most caring and nicest person you could ever meet. There are however so not so nice Turks but i suppose its the same all over the world, you get good and bad everywhere. I dont know why your teacher dislikes them i dont know if theres every been conflict between Germany and Turkey but i do know a lot of Turkish people live in Germany

This sort of question is really nasty and leading.

Sadly its the type of question that's fast becoming YA classic

If you dont know any Turks then why bother to ask other people what they think of them? Everyone has different opinions - you should make up your own mind.

This smacks of fishing for racist answers to me.

W*anker.

Uh, I don't know any Turks personally, so I can't say for sure. It seems that most of them sound okay.
