I am 15 years old
I started classes at age 10 and had a really bad teacher
Stopped 2 years later
And now I want to go back?
The only problems are 1 - my teacher didn't teach me anything. She taught me music using the solfege method, I can't read music alphabetically AT ALL.
2 - I would like to be a really good pianist, not just "good enough" or "for fun" but extremely good.
It sounds impossible and is really depressing me. I feel like a failure. >_<
Thanks for your answers.

yes you can still learn. Find a teacher that is willing to work with you and start at the beginning with you. Enjoy yourself and you will do fine.

No, of course not. I started learning the piano at 14 and a half and I am still having lessons. Within a year, I had reached grade 1. I also have a friend who started well after her 15th birthday and less than a year later, she had done her grade 3. Obviously grades are not the best method to measure how good you are and in the end, all that matters is that you have fun! Having a nice teacher also helps.

I'm 36, took piano for 10 years when I was younger, couldn't tell you what note is what right now, but just got a piano and am going to re-teach myself. It's NEVER too late!

It's never too late. I know 2 people who never touched a piano until they were in their 20's and they found great instructors and now they're fantastic players.

Search around the internet, newspaper, or even a music store to find a beginner's instructor if you're not confident in your current ability.

Good luck, you can do it! =]

NOT LATE!
just don't give up.
even if you have to learn it on your own.
and practice, practice and practice.

it's good that you know the solfege method.
learn the alphabetical way as well.
it will only broaden your knowledge.
be patient when you start to learn the alphabetical way. ;)

sounds like you like piano alot. you will be able to do it.

of course its not too late. if you put your heart in it and make a point to practice and practice, you will get better.

I tried to teach myself piano growing up because I had such a love for it, and for christmas when Iwas 15, my parents surprised me with piano lessons and I learned alot and got much better. I did it, so I know you can too
