I think it is not illegal. But I am not sure. You could ask the civilian registration office in your town for specific laws and advice.
good luck

Hello Peachiz-
No it is not illegal, and I know because I actually have my grandfathers last name, which is not the same as any of my parents.
It is somewhat confusing because people would automatically call my parents my last name "Mr/Mrs. ___" and that was not correct. Also people would always wonder why I didn't have the same last name as either of my parents, and wondered if I was adopted, but a quick explanation fixes that.
It's also unique, and really I wouldn't change my last name to my parents if I had the chance.

I don't believe so. Parents can even choose to create a last name for their child -- often a combination of their own (Brown and Jones might become Brones, for example LOL), but not always even related. So I doubt that giving your child your father's surname would be at all difficult.

I dont think its illegal, it just might be a pain when it comes to paper work and the child might wonder why he has a different last name.

It's not illegal at all. You may get some crap from the child's father if he's still in the picture however.

yes it isn't legal to change a childs name. The child's last name needs to be your last name or the father of the baby's last name.
Use your father's last name as a middle name or a second middle name.

no you can give them any name you want!!! it does not legally link them together. the only way to do that is to have him sign paperwork stating that he agrees that he is the father. good luck!

I don't see why you could not. I am pretty sure you can name your kid whatever you want and there will not be a problem.
