Ummm, rocks are normally broken down by water which shapes them into stones or pebbles.

Jakex is correct! Weather and time (millions) changes the rock (sandstone/igneous) to metamorphic stone!

a rock is big a stone is small--- break the rock into smaller pieces... not to small or you have pebbles.... good luck!
