Minimally decriminalized.
Bans on medical marihuana should be dropped & many physicians have come out in its favor.
A cancer patient should not be denied the benefits of its use to minimize nausea & hold down a good meal , a little stress relief or a nights sleep.
Have a son who went through chemotherapy but was far too young to smoke.
This was in the days when you could buy tobacco in the hospital gift shop & there were smoking lounges.
Heard that some doctors or nurses would actually say things like "if it were legal a little pot "might" help with the side effects after a treatment & the munchies "might" help with a little weight gain etc. wink, wink. "....
The smoking lounge would sometimes have that certain sweet smell late at night.
Heard that parents & some older kids would even torch one together .
I never saw that happen..wink , wink & neither did the staff.
Ok its a drug subject to abuse & should be kept out of the hands of young people but is , in my opinion far less harmful
than alcohol abuse & the violence that it causes.
Lots of taxpayers money being wasted on it.
Worked in a E.R .for many years & never saw a fatal car accident involving pot...even the cops agreed .
Hard to cause bodily harm if you bounce your car off a tree at 2-1/2 miles an hour while looking for a chinese take out place.
Have seen enough deaths ( entire families) caused by drunks doing 80, also plenty of wives & kids beaten or killed by someone after a few legal cocktails.
Tax it , legalize it , whatever, as long as you do it at home.
I think it smells nice for whatever that's worth.
Best regards

If there was an effective way to regulate its production, distribution, and sale (as there is with tobacco and alcohol), I would say yes. If it does become legal, it should be treated exactly the same as tobacco and alcohol, a highly regulated and highly taxed industry.

I am not sure why those that smoke marijuana want it to be legal. It will cost you a hell of a lot more money (to pay for regulation and taxes) to get it when it is legal than it does now.

Why not is a great question.

If we were prescribed to smoke three joints a day, and we followed that order, we would not grow Much of a tolerance to Marijuana. Although people who need to take pain killers usually start to double their dose. 85% and possibly more of people who use Tylenol regularly abuse it. around 40% will damage their liver, stomach, kydneys, e.t.c. from the abuse.

Some of the most legal O.T.C's and a nice amount of prescribed drugs are the most lethal, addicting and dangerous.

Certainly, it should be taxed and regulated. It should also be available to those who are ill and it might alleve their suffering. It likely has many positive medical uses.

The Drug War such as it is only creates profits for organized crime. It unjustly incarcerates many who could be leading successful lives.

Make no mistake, this is not an innocuous drug. Marijuana destroys lives. It destroys ambition, in the workplace and life in general. I've met 50 year olds whose intellectual growth and maturity ended in their teens. They are lost causes. Make no mistake, this is a dangerous drug, but the Drug War is a lost cause.

I don't smoke myself but I have seen the "pot heads" in my school just totally doing NOTHING with their lives and pretty much destined to grow up as a drain on society unless they straighten up. But also I have seen many kids who smoke marijuana who can balance their lives and enjoy it and not let it rule their day to day activities. I think legalizing it might make more and more people turn to "pot head" lifestyle but who knows!

I'd smoke it if it was legal! ;)

Well, they've tried to make alcohol illegal and that failed.
Now, they're trying to make tobacco illegal and that's failing.
Now, they're trying to make trans fats illegal.
So far, they've made a lot of sweeteners illegal.
And they're trying to make fast food illegal.
They're too busy trying to make everything ILLEGAL to be able to consider legalizing anything.

Pretty soon it will be ILLEGAL for everyone to live since it's proven that they'll die from it.
