Manifest destiny was the belief that the United States should run from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. It was used to justify territorial acquisitions from Texas to Oregon.

A lot of people were immigrants at that time and they wanted them to all come together as one to support this new country that we made. They thought that it was our destiny to become a great nation.
