LOL!!! In many poorer countries, companies would employ people living in villages to make items for them like clothes, small appliances, etc. People lived in small huts or cottages in earlier times. Thus the term "cottage industry".

No, that is where the little old ladies in third world countries sit around in their homes and sew for big companies and receive about 10 cents/hr.
