Why do Indian women eat all the time? Where I work there are a lot of Indian women. They all gather in the break-room at 10:00, 12:00 and 2:00 to microwave a ton of food. Between the time they spend cooking and eating all damn day they don't get any work done! And, one of these women has a butt that is 4 feet wide!

So why do they eat so much?

To answer some questions.....

* Most of them aren't fat, just the one lady who has a butt 4 feet wide, the others are skinny.

* I care because they have practically taken over our break-room. Those of us who just grab a quick candy bar from the vending machine don't understand the need to cook so much food and eat so much/often.

CHIP: You are so correct, they do always eat together in a "pack" and they do seem to always be socializing. You know what else is funny, I work about 10 miles from Fremont so that explains the large number of Indians.

1. Indians are social, just like most of the rest of the world. This is different from Americans, who are generally individualistic and not so social (many are even loners). Besides, Indian people in general are generally known to roam in packs. Come visit Fremont, CA someday to see what I mean.

2. 4-6 SMALL meals a day is best for staying healthy (coupled with exercise). Maybe by yapping their mouths so much they are getting SOME exercise?

3. Some people like big butts (ASSUMING the woman also has a small or medium waist). It's sexy. Assuming the face is also cute, I'd hit it.

Too bad the ladies aren't getting work done though...

This question is going to sound rude & racist but I'm genuinely curious....?

That's the way to get people to answer your question.LOL I saw that from a mile away. Okay ima say this people respond to their environment. Ima take black women into account cuz I am black and feel safe with using them as a general example for all races.Okay so there's this one black woman she has a good job but it's stressful so she finds comfort in food and so do alot of her best friends that work in the office with her who also happen to be black. So say she quits her job to work somewhere less stressful. And she see a whole bunch of black women that are skinnier and don't eat as much as her former employees. So you see it may not have anything to do with race but anxiety or stress or they simply find enjoyment in eating together. And usually if one person does something and they get in the habit it will rub off on others sometimes no matter what the race. Now if you were to ork somewhere else and see alot of white, black or whatever women smoking alot would you say whites or blacsk smoke alot more than another race. All im saying is unless you have calculated proof don't say it just say that the people or indian people YOU work with eat alot . You can never make a generalization without facts to prove it. Besides just in one place like your job. Im notr trying to get on you or whatever but you did ask. And there nothing wrong with being curious. I just don't like to use genralizations for groups of people. And too say that they don't get any work done like their lazy. All I can say it's obviously the boss doesn't have a problem with it or they all would've been fired. Just do you and work your job and whatever else it is you do.

Just for the record, there's nothing seriously racists about that question.

But for reference, some cultures are like that. Rather then eating 3 big meals in they day, they eat small to moderate sized meals in shorter increments. It's actually not a bad idea and can help you stay alert and have more energy.

There probably is also other reasons such as that it gives them times to socialize with people from their culture, or it could just seem that way because there are so many of them.

The main thing is not to "stereotype" any group of people though. I'm a Caucasian male in the 18 - 24 age range, and I eat about the same way they do. LOL.

I don't think that's linked to their race directly. It could just be that they all made their own clique because they all happen to be Indian... And to top that off, they don't see any problem with what they're doing, so they keep doing what they're doing. It's like if you put a bunch of guys together in a workplace that's not supervised very closely, they'll eventually start fooling around and joking off and not get work done.
Maybe it's just that. They formed a clique because they have a common bond with each other. They eat and break a lot because to them, it seems nobody has a problem with it. So what you have to do is break that. They need to know that people don't approve of that. they're taking advantage of company time and other coworkers that might be delayed due to their slacking off.

In some cultures, people eat more often but they eat smaller meals. This is actually healthy in many ways. I'm not sure if Indians customarily do this or not though.

Maybe you're just too busy throwing up your food at 10, 12 and 2 to actually get your work done, too? Why are some people so fascinated by other's eating habits...? I'll never understand.

Well lol, I do feel that your last sentence breaks a bit away from curiousity, and straight into rude. I do not have any clue in regards to culture. I do however think that possibly you could bring it up to them. However I would rehearse your approach prior to going up to them, I would also suggest you not informing them that they do not get their work done, nor that one of them has a "4 feed wide" butt. Somehow, I believe this would not set up the conversation in a positive note. Lots of luck to you. YOu could always find a new job. Like one where they don't eat as much.

It is only a racist question if you generalize this behavior to all Indian women. I am going to guess that the observed behavior is more isolated to your particular work place, as far as Indian women are concerned. I am sure that in offices across American there are people of all races and creeds that are shoveling snacks down their pie-holes at this very instant.

I think the reason that your particular co-workers eat all day is because they are incompetent. By avoiding work, they hope to conceal this from you.

It is probably a part of their culture. I can understand that they live in a foreign ground for them. And if you speak about UK or USA these countries are countries with lost identities. And not being at your country (where you belong) it is sad. So you eat a lot not having much to do in these corrupted societies (multinational societies)

In the country where I live we still have peace and almost no foregners at all. We have identiry - unity - TRADITIONS. And when foreigners come here they live their lives to the fullest like we do (Thus not eating all the time).

I answered your question

Are you sure it is ALL Indian women or just the ones that you know. I have worked with Indian (from India) women and they did not eat all the time...they were all really thin as well.

It is sounding to me, that these Indian women do this and you are sterotyping all indian women by what you see in a few.
