He gets on his hands and knees with this small hand held hoe/rake tool, pokes/digs his lawn up and down and puts some of the grass in a bucket to dispose of. He already has the world's most perfect lawn.... no patches, weeds, very green, etc.... so what is he doing????? Thanks for your help.

He is poking little holes in the ground to sow grass seeds and keeps on adding some so therefore the lawn looks so great and it airates the earth for oxygen to help it breath better.

Agree with Dances. The lawn is perfect because he is removing weeds which also aerates the soil. aeration allows water to be absorbed into the soil.

If you spoke with him he'd share the information and possibly cuttings of his plants.

Working on his lawn every day is how he GETS that perfect lawn. He's probably removing small weeds that crop up. If you're on good terms with him, I'm sure he wouldn't mind telling you what he's doing if you ask. Most of us garden geeks love it when somebody notices what we do!

He is aerating his lawn, and perhaps over seeding also.
But, why don't you ask him?
Most people who work that hard would be proud and pleased to talk about their work, and success!
