for political I think it would have to be either washington or even london. they are two of the worlds strongest political entities

Although I'd like to answer an American city, it would have to be LONDON for me - the financial capital of the world and the place that global time zones go by (GMT) - making it the centre of the world...!

The answer seems obvious to me. New York City! After all it's the location for the UN Headquarters! :) That pretty much covers all issues from religion to world economics!

New York City! Tokyo is pretty cool, too, but most major trends come straight from NYC. It doesn't matter which trend it is (fashion, financial, etc.), that's where it all starts.
