i was just wondering how many parents will still be giving the kids cold medicine with all the news downing it. i have a 2 year old who just started getting cold symptoms today and im scared to give him anything to help him breathe. i have used dimatapp in the past, and at the right dosage that the doctor told me to use and it helps him to sleep during his naps and at night. he cant breathe well when he has a cold and so he doesnt sleep well without it. but at the same time im scared to give it to him! what do yall think?? would you still use it even if you havent had any problems in the past???

As long as you give the correct, safe amount I feel it is fine to use, not abuse. I give my son Tylenol here and there for teething and will give him cold medicine if the need arises. I am not a big believer in meds for myself but I will do anything to help my baby feel better (if it is safe of course).

No and I barely used it when you were told you could. Take your son in the bathroom and turn on shower and sit in the bathroom with him and let it fill up with mist for about 20 minutes and it works wonders. Do it a couple of times a day . Also you can use a humidifer and also some baby vicks on chest. Or give him a cup of warm tea. there are other methods.

Try using vicks vapor rub and the vicks vaporizer to help the baby breathe at night and get uncongested. that works for my kids. You can also take them into the bathroom while a hot shower is running and sit in there with them to let the steam help clear up the congestion. Don't put the kid in the hot shower of course just sit in there to breathe the hot steam. It helps alot with congestion too.

My doctor told me it's fine for at night to help the child sleep, but that's all. I've been doing it since my daughter first got sick at 8 months old. The problem is that too many parents were giving it day and night to their children, and that's not healthy.

The reason that children's cold medicine is under review is its effectiveness.

There are concerns that it might not be as helpful curing children's ailments as was thought in the past.

Each child is different.

If you used a product in the past and it worked for your child then you can continue to use it.

The current review is just to show that it might not work on every child every time.

There is no danger in its use unless you go past the recommended dose.

Use it. If it works, great. If not, then explain to your doctor that it is not working and he will recommend something else.

I've been using it for a long time. My son's 4 now. My sister's a nurse and as long as you use the correct dosage, it's fine. We've never had a problem. If we did, we wouldn't use it, but so far all is well.

my mother used to fill the bath with boiling water and put spoons of vicks vapour rub in the water...she would sit with us in the bathroom with the door closed and the steam with the vicks through it would help open the airways...it works.x.

It'll be fine. The warning is for overdosing.

No, I won't. They recalled it for a reason.
