Should I join the American Communist Party?
I realize that its a lost cause. But I do support China. And the way I see it, America is so corrupt and decadent, that if I try to change things "inside the system", I'll either lose out to people more cruel than me, or become so evil myself that I won't stand for anything.

Better to be a man of good character fighting for a lost cause than a successful goon. Look at all of history's heroes with the exception of militrary men like Napoleon, none of them played inside the sytem even when thier cause seemed dire and hopeless.

I'm not looking for a history lesson here. I know the "Dirty little secrets" of communism, like the back of my hand. But I support the communist Part of china. What I'm looking for is philsophical feedback on what is a better life spent. Fighting inside the system hoping to work your way up and make a difference or fighting outside the system for a "pure and noble" cause with no chance of victory?

The CPUSA is the ONLY party that supports the government in China.

How about moving to China instead?

If you support China so much and America is corrupt and decadent you should go live there.

Or is it that is just too comfortable in NYU?

I don't know why the CPUSA is supporting the government of the Peoples Republic of China, because that government is coming to realize that there is less and less devotion to communism every day in that nation. The leading gripes in Shanghai are about governmental regulation of bottled water distributors and eliminating dead spots in the cell phone network. China Radio International (the official shortwave outlet) has ads for the Hilton hotel in Beijing, as well as other commercial enterprises.
The PRC government has been using up to 25% of its foreign currency earnings to prop up inefficient, state-owned enterprises and that is coming to an end quite soon.
And the nightmare isn't even any of the above. The great divide between educated, entreprenuerial coastal and southern China and illiterate, poor western China is beginnning to re-emerge. In 1989, the Ministry of Education even violated Mao's concept of the "iron rice bowl" by reducing monetary stipends to college students who used the money for food purchases. That's what brought them out into Tien An Mien Square by the thousands.
So, if you support the Communist Party of China, you are supporting an economic and political dinosaur. Deng Zhou Peng began giving the people a measure of economic freedom. Now they are thirsting for a measure of political freedom. The two have always been closely allied. And even the Chinese communists are getting to recognize that reality.

Why not just read about them? Politics is the story of corruption and it is global. Look at the great things capitalism has brought us. Look at the middle class. Oops, I can't find them anymore. How about the great retirement pensions for American workers? I think corporations have bailed out of those. Look at the choices available in the US with two different political parties. Marvel at the unrelenting efforts of the democratic party to end the war in Iraq. Look at the efforts of the status quo to offer monetary incentives, benefits and training to the poor to become soldiers in Iraq...Experts agree, everything is just fine.
