There is only one city which will satisfy all International standards that being MUMBAI or Bombay.

You will find anything and everything in the malls and shops in Mumbai that you find any place in the world. It is the only place in India that can claim as a true Cosmopolitan and International status.

Virtually none.

At the most you can shop always at big shops or malls or authorised retail shops etc. But then the prices quoted at these shops are marked up hence either ways you end up paying more than fair.

A way out of this is: whenever you need to do shopping in unknown towns/ cities / areas, take someone local ( like friend etc) with you and let them do the bargaining etc. This is a sure way to get some quality purchases in bargain prices.

all cities are safe as long as you do not go out shopping with a guide or u go to small shops. Go to any big Establishment, any shopping mall or a chain store, the prices are fixed and no salesman there can charge u a penny less or more.

i am an indian. go to any big mall in any city, their is a 0% chance that anybody cheats you because they are under check always by their companies. try chandigarh even cheap markets their are trust worthy. i lived 4 year in chandigarh and i know.

Stick to big name brand shops, but you loose the fun of haggling. Chennai (madras) is great place as they never got the art of haggling.
