I am a 42 year old mom, wife, and teacher. Everyday when I get home I want to take a nap. I get really sleepy around 5:00 and the couch just calls my name. I know I could be getting lots of stuff done during that time. I usually sleep for at least 1 hr. Then, I stay up until about midnight. Do you do this? I don't do it every day, but about 4 out of 7 days. I don't want to go to bed every night at 9:00.

I do the same exact thing, the timing is a bit off, cause im usually home way later, but all i want to do is sleep. I get plenty of sleep too.
It could be normal, it could actually be too much sleep, it could be depression, the change in the daylight hours, too much or too little caffeine or other important nutrients, changes in your blood sugar, hormonal etc...etc...etc...
If it is truly bothersome, (which in my case it is, b/c at 31 y/o and a working mom, i want to be productive in those hours and spending time with my family), there is not one thing wrong with seeing the doctor and having some simple tests run, especially a thyroid test
Good Luck

I think naps are amazing, if you use them properly. I, on the other hand, do not. Set an alarm? Nope. Pass out and wake up in a cold sweat 5 hours later in the dark feeling disoriented and terrified? Yep.

Not me.. But I think its normal. Since you are a teacher, you must be tired! My mom is always tired and just wants to take a nap. I f its something serious or you want to make sure that you are ok, go to a doctor! My mom takes naps, too!

I usually take a short nap after dinner. I think that your nap and stay up late schedule is a perfectly sane and sensible routine.
