parallel to y = 2x-5
y-intercept = 1/3
y = 2x + 1/3
slope = -2
y-intercept = 3
y = -2x + 3
parallel to y = x-1
y-intercept = 3/4
y = x + 3/4

parallel to y = 2x-5
y-intercept = 1/3
First: y = mx +b, m is the slope, and b is the y-intercept
Second: parallel lines have same slopes
since y = 2x - 5, has slope of 2, other line has slope of 2
so, y = 2x + 1/3
slope = -2
y-intercept = 3
y = mx + b
you have m = -2, and b = 3
so, y = -2x + 3
parallel to y = x-1
y-intercept = 3/4
Agian: m = 1, b = 3/4
y = 1x+3/4 which is same as y = x + 3/4
Remember whenever you have equation in form of: y = mx + b, the number (negative or positive) front of x is the slope

y = mx + b; m = slope, b = y - intercept
parallel means it has the same slope
parallel to y = 2x-5
y-intercept = 1/3
y = 2x + 1/3
slope = -2
y-intercept = 3
y = -2x + 3
parallel to y = x-1
y-intercept = 3/4
y = x + 3/4

Y=2x+1/3
Y= -2x+3
Y=x+3/4
In that order. Come on this is easy. Always keep y as y and x as x. The m is the slope and the b is the y-intercept. If it says parallel that means keep the slope (m) and change the y-int (b) otherwise just plug in

"Parallel to y" means the equations have the same slope (the "m" in "y=mx+b").
The y-intercept is obtained by setting x equal to zero (so in the equation y=2x-5, the y-intercept is -5).
OK, that's enough hints. Now go do your homework yourself!!

To put this in slope intercept form(thats point slope form btw) these are the steps: y+1=-4x-4 1) simplify the right side y=-4x-5 2) Wala! slope intercept form by moving everything except y to right side
