No. There are many different types. some are calculating and some just go for the easiest targets. Just read the newspapers and books. It's not like the movies. It's not that complicated. Either all of a sudden they are in the mood they go out and get a unlucky target or they stock someone forever. It's not always at night and can be just as likely to happen in the daytime. But being killed by serial killer is actually quite rare. Like over 80% of murders is committed by someon you know like a husband, boyfriend or parents. Serial killers have some brain damage, mental illness and have definitely been abused severely or neglected in childhood. They go to a place where no one can see then they kill, if they get lucky no one notices and they get away. Some have no plans. There was a guy who killed many people for 20 years. He just walks in to the person's house and kill the whole family then walk out (no real elaborate plan) and left no evidence that can be traced.
They are miserable people who never developed attachment/bond with a caregiver in early childhood and was abused / neglected severely. And now have built up anger and they look for victims to take that out on.

Not at all. It is a fascinating subject for many people. I mean, I personally cannot imagine actually ending someone's life, but I'm kinda curious about what goes through the mind of a person who does it many a time.

I'm actually especially interested in the dreams that they have... my dreams are actually very disturbing and scary. Maybe that is why serial killers kill, because they have normal dreams...

not at all there are millions of us, that's why the sites are so popular. I, have always been fascinated by criminology and the human mind in general, so as serial killers began to gain in number, i followed the many area's related. Have you looked into the world wide sites? I find Pee Wee Gaskins particularly interesting. I read a 1980's biography on him i found in a second hand store. He was realy was a weird one. Certainly teaches you about trust and judging books by their cover.

Nope. 3 letters : CSI!!! LOL. Sorry, I just had to say it.

Some people are paid to know how serial killers operate... it helps detectives get into the mindset of the killer and make it easier to seek out potential targets.

I'm sure these people are paid very well!

NO NOT AT ALL!!!!!!!!!

Seriel Killers tend to have phyological issues and it is this that cuases them to kill in such interesting patterns....Now as long as you aren't interested in them becuase you want to plan your own murders. Thinking of this you have to wonder what is it in there brain that allows them to come up with such interesting patterns. I mean what in there brain allows them to kill so many people in so many ways. I would like to suggest some shows and movies you might want to check out....

NUMB3RS- It is all about math patterns and using these patterns to track down killers

PHONEBOOTH- Phonebooth isn't really about serial killers and patterns but it is about a phyologically man and his attempt to be a phyciatrist by threatening to blow off a mans head.....

THE ZODIAC- I never got around to seeing this movie but i know it is about a serial killer.

THIS LAST ONE IS EXTREMELY SCARY AND DON"T WATCH IF YOU AE UDER THE AGE OF 12!!!!!!

The SAW series- These are scary movies about a man with problems trapping men and setting them in situations where the only way out is something gruesume....In one movie a key is hidden behind a man's eye so he rips out his eye but dies before he escapes....

Once again I don't believe you are odd!!!!

Not at all. You can pick up all sorts of interesting tips. Seriously though, if you're interested, try getting hold of a couple of books. The Shoe Maker and When Rabbit Howls. Forget horror fiction. These'll give you nightmares. They're for real.

Facinated? no. Obsessed? yes. Serial killers are horrible people who have done horrible things, yet trying to understand how they were able to find and isolate their victims can be interesting (and maybe a little unsettling - read up on Ted Bundy).
