Don't have much to paint and don't want to buy a quart of mineral spirits just for this job.

Best to use a brush cleaner such as Parks Quittin Time. Check with a paint store Sherwin-Williams, ICI Paints or Pittsburgh Paints for a good brush cleaner. Gasoline is not good for the brush. Be sure to follow directions on the container. Be safe.

Gasoline will get out the paint if it is not dry. However it will dry out the bristles so bad that the brush will be no good for painting again.

Yes. Just be extra careful about ignition sources.
Do it outdoors. The xylene and toluene in gasoline
is worse to inhale than the normal mineral spirits
vapors.
Before we learned about carcinogens, I used to
wash-up in the stuff. ( So far .... so good.)

don't worry with the roller covers. in simple terms toss them after each and every use. in simple terms soak the brushes in turpentine or paint thinner. Mineral spirits would not paintings that giant, use on of those 2.

no the fumes are highly explosive instead a lot of your gas stations carry kerosene it is a much safer alternative to gas
