Its probably because of the time. You get a lot of time on your HW but on the test you get a measly 40 minutes. I guess you just have to focus on doing the problems faster.

You are smart. The most probable reason that you're not testing well is due to how you apply what you know. You've learned the content, but now you need to learn how to test well. You have to practice applying it. I had this problem in Finance while completing my MBA. I never had time to finish, or I would make stupid mistakes by rushing thru. My solution was to due the homework twice - maybe three times if I had the time. The first time I would be in it for the knowledge = to learn the content. After that I went for speed. It made me a much more satisfied pupil.

Perhaps you are not really doing the homework if you are not able to do well on the tests. Anybody can do homework and never retain the material beyond turning it in to obtain some good stroke for it. But at the test you don't get the strokes because you don't do well. You must not really want to take the tests, they are in the way of school and all the fun, and homework can be gotten out of the way fast with no effort hardly. When you start studying to pass the tests you will have succeeded in overcoming the one most common factor in student failures... School life itself can be distracting.

Yeah i would have to say it might be your testing skills. Does this happen in other classes? Also on homework and assignments you have something to fall back on like notes and you have all the time you need. On test, you cant use notes and dont really have much time.
