Most current ECS AM2 motherboards support the latest Athlon64 X2s like the 6000+ or 6400+.

That would depend on the version of bios your motherboard has as bios updates are usually to accomodate support for newer cpus when they come out. Go to the motherboards website and look at the cpu support for your board and see what version of bios you need and if it shows you need a certain revision of your board for a certain cpu that you have at least that revision of board.
