Read Robert Burns poetry. He wrote much of his work in dialectal southern Scots!!!!.
'Auld Lang Syne' the song sung at New Year was written by him, and means in modern English 'Old long since' or ' Old long ago'.
In 'Scouse ese' (Liverpool) Slang for a woman police officer is 'Judy Scuffer'.
In 'Geordie' (Newcastle) Slang for going home is 'Gan Yam'.
