You're perpetuating a myth of the Spurs of old. The Spurs have a 'play at any pace' offense as does Dallas. Tony Parker is one of the fastest guys in the League and they use that speed to their advantage when necessary. Remember the Spurs beat two fast paced teams (Denver & Phoenix) and two slow it down teams (Utah & Cleveland) in their playoff run last season.

As a Phoenix fan I really like watching the Suns gun it all of the time but it comes at a price like low rebounds and too tired for defense. And getting beat in the playoffs by better defensive teams

It comes down to this: Love that offense absolutely during the regular season but don't place too high of hopes on the team in the playoffs.

It all depends on the players. If you have a very athletic team with alotta guards, then the run-n-gun is better. But if u have great post players and perimeter players, then the half court offense is better. I personally prefer the run-n-gun offense because "Speed Kills". Its gets points faster, and the objective of bball is to get the most points. but a great team is able to do both. Look at the Suns and Warriors, did either of them make it to the Finals?

Both type of offense are fine as long as it suits the team's composition. When Pat Riley was in the Lakers, he settled for a run 'n gun style of play because he has Magic, Worthy and Kareem to make it work. When he came to New York, he found out that he couldnt do that style of play with Ewing and Oakley. Both were not particularly fleet-footed, but they were both physicaly bruising inside prescence. Riley have to settle for a slow, half court game capitalizing on the strengths of his players.

It all depends on the team. I say that the run-n-gun offense is better for more guard orriented teams and younger teams. The half court offense is better for post orriented teams and veteran teams. I would pick the run-n-gun offense, but the Spurs are the team to beat in the NBA with the half court. So this is close.

Depends on your talent and players if you got a bunch of quick good shooting guards i'd run and gun if I got a few quick players and a few giants I would run a half-court offense. I personally like the run and gun its more exciting to watch and play in.

You Need Both. To Win. But Defense Wins Championships! the The Jordan era Bulls they were the perfect combination of everything, from defense to offense half or full.

I agree with the other person who said that it depends on your team. Give them an offense that suits their skills and abilities. Set it up to go to your strengths, whether that is fast perimeter players, who slash and launch threes and press and such or a big team that needs to pound it inside.
