back then we had a sense of community and people looked after each other.now due to an oppressive govt and high taxes, and political correctness and a me,me,me i,i,i materialistic attitude that forces mothers to work, children into daycare and a rush rush attitude we dont take time to enjoy life and just stop.we dont know our neighbors, work too long and pay someone to raise our kids for a big house fancy car and lots of toys(togetherness is worth more than all the toys)

I heard that American society swings back and forth between conservative and liberal values. They vote for conservative politicians, and then they vote for liberal politicians. The undecided voters who don't stick with one party decide the elections. The politicians have a strong influence on the arts. The war movies and first person shooter games are training for the military. In some cases, the military pays the artists to make these war movies. Eisenhower warned Americans about the military-industrial complex. The military and the business owners are friends or the same people. They could engineer a military conflict to make their political candidate look good before an election. The owners of the mass media could suppress news that makes the military look bad.

Depends on the part of the country, too. Rural folks seem to put up with more hi-jinks than city folk, especially if you're known and liked.

You have heard the saying, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Some things have changed for the better, and some for the worse.

Yes it is different, back then people took responsibility for their bad behavior and other people did not make excuses for them.
