child abuse?

i have a project and i was assigned the injustice of child abuse.
i have to try and find out what i can do about this crime and
how to stop it and prevent it from happening ever again.
you sugestions will help alot!!!!!

Effective monitoring of "at risk" children is the first step. This means providing the Child Protective Services with enough manpower to physically check on the homes and conditions of those children on its lists. A phone call to see if everything is OK is not adequate. Must be able to follow up complaints. Better a hundred false claims checked than one true case slipping through the cracks. The legal power to do such inspections without prior notice.
Mandatory reporting of suspected abuse is another. Making those professionals - teachers, doctors, social workers, mental health workers - liable if they fail to report when they suspect abuse.
Education and awareness for the general public. Let them know what constitutes abuse and what to do about it.
The courts to have the power to punish those people to the full extent for their crimes. Why should someone who murdered their own child get less time than a stranger who did the same thing?
