I live in America and their are thousands and thousands of children that need homes here. It is absolutely sad. But people continue to go outside of the country and adopt. I know that there are issues outside, but this is our country! We should support it and help us get out of poverty before moving on somewhere else. It would also be cheaper to adopt here right?? Opinions?

While I think how you think we have many children here who need homes I also think maybe they are adopting froma country where they are even less fortunate than the children here in the US. Some of the places these kids are at are absolutely horrific.

The grass is always "greener" on the other side. Perhaps, the "new parents" believe that adopting from another country will create a "better atmosphere" for getting children quicker, to add to their "new households." It is much more difficult to "adopt" children in the United States. This is probably why there is an eagerness to adopt in other countries.

You are absolutely right, it is a blasted shame that there are so many impediments to adopting a child. In the province I live in, Quebec, it is not permitted, by law, to adopt within the province.
