To get a job in the business world. Also, in management.

Sorry if I did not make entirely clear.

Mainly a management position.

The reason I ask is because some kid said business school was "a joke" and that undergrad. majors mean nothing. He's majoring in econ. and I'm undecided econ vs. B. Administraion.(And I hate him.)

I'd say it partly depends on the job. Perhaps a job with lots of analyzing of numbers and trends might better fit an economics major. Business administration majors can specialize in management, marketing, finance, etc. A job in those areas might better be filled by someone with that specialization. In the end, however, I don't think the differences between economics and business administration will matter as much as the personality and non-academic background of the job applicant.

"Business job" is so broad--it depends on which job in which business.
