About a month and a half ago I was contacted by someone for the Law Office of Christopher Renieri. The guy rattled off a case number and stressed that it was imperative that I call him immediately. I ignored him because there is no pending lawsuit that I am aware of in any state I've resided. A couple of days ago I received a second call. Has anyone else dealt with this company? Also how is it possible for him to have a case number when no paperwork has been filed?

Sounds like the tactics used by many collection agencies and many scam artists. If he calls again tell him you will not speak to him until you see something in writing. bet the calls stop.

Attorneys dont usually call defendants, they usually correspond with certified mail or serving a person by a process server . I would not take it seriously. If you want to put your mind at ease, go to your district court clerk and have him look up your name to see if it brings up anything. I have heard of a scam where a "law firm" calls to collect money. Beware.

You are aware of every lawsuit in every state?

sounds like you are some sort of witness to something that he is working on.

if you have something to hide, then have your own attorney contact him.

If you don't reach him, you may end up subpoenaed anyway. Then you will have no choice.
