Oh my.

Thank you for sharing that snopes link.

Yes, they should be scared to death.

I can't believe they are slipping this under the radar as okay for kids. It's aweful what is being put out there for our children now-a-days.

Bless you for bringing this to my attention!

Parents who believe in God regardless of their religion should be concerned about this. Parents who want to responsibly raise their children and help them to think for themselves don't want to feed this to their kids without alot of discussion. It's certainly not something to just share with young kids - and older ones certainly need to be taught about different worldviews that are out there so they understand where this guy is coming from and what the true consequences of choices like the ones the characters make in the movie really are. It's not anti-religion - it's anti reality. Let's face it - even if you don't believe in God - the things that happen in this film are out of reality and out of touch with the natural consequences for actions taken and going against the principles presented to all humans through nature and science during the course of their lives. I think you're better off revisiting some excellent and classic films at home with your kids. Come on now - The Sound of Music, Old Yeller, The Little Princess, Radio and so many others offer excellent choices for learning values, moral integrity, concern for others and faith and those are the things I want to feed my kids so - yes I would be concerned. Not all parents are concerned about the things I am though. Alot of parents allow the mass media and the public school to do all of the training of their kids. That's their choice.

I hope parents will be responsible and not concerned. A responsible parent (one that believes in God) would not allow his/her child to watch a movie of this nature, nor allow their child to read the books that they are based on.

It was interesting reading on the Snopes link. Mr. Pullman, an avowed athiest, said his books are aimed at killing God. I find that quite ironic that a man that doesn't believe in God feels the need to kill Him.

If you want to limit your children's exposure to anti-religious themes (which seem common in today's society), then maybe you should preview the movie yourself first.
