So, i got my MIL visiting from very far away (Bangladesh...that
s a 30 hour plane ride)...so she's staying for 6 weeks...well deserved...for a 30 hour plane ride.

Anyway, my husband and I have 2 bedrooms. One is the master and the other will be the babie's room.

Where to put my MIL?

I was thinking since it is only 1200 sqft...kinda small...it would be good to keep the living room open with no one sleeping in there, so it seems that the apartment is a little bigger and we all don't go insane.

So, what I have come up with, is during the first 6 weeks of my babies life and while she's here....

1.Baby - in babies' room
2.Mother - sleeps in the twin bed that is in the babies' room (even though baby is in the crib)
3. MIL - extra couch in Master Bed Room
4. Husband - In our bed.

I'm totally cool with this. What do all you wise prego's think? What are your opinions?

Your plan sounds workable to me...I love my mother in law, but wow! You're a saint! :)

She has a lot of option I see which is good. If you don't mind giving up the bed for a couple weeks, and you guys sleep in the living room. You could also have you sleep in the babies room. It seems like you have it all figured out. All you have to do now is pick one of your options.

You should get a bassinet and have your tiny one close for the first 6 weeks! Believe me, it is easier to have baby right there during feedings which will most likely be every 2-3 hrs in the first few weeks.
Good Luck!

i kept my daughter in my bedroom in a cradle/bassinet for her first 6 months, maybe you could put the baby in your and hubbys room and give mil her own room with some privacy, it really has more to do with what you, hubby, and mil are comfortable with though.

30 hours on a plane and then sleeping with a newborn in the room is gonna wear mil to a frazzle and make the visit less bearable for everyone, with he baby in your room chances are she will never hear the lil fella :)

Do whatever seems the most feasible to you. Personally I kept my babies in the bassinette in my room for a couple months. But whatever you do, DONT sleep with the baby! It's dangerous if you are a sound sleeper, and also for some people it takes YEARS to get the kid to sleep in his own bed.

I thought the baby basically sleeps in your room for the first month or so. Not for sure on this, it's just what I've been told and what I'm expecting to do.

I've always kept my babies (3, preg with the 4th) in bed with me. Makes breastfeeding at night much easier. Also, I don't like being apart from my newest cutie. :)
