I am allowed to claim head of household every other year (I have a son 50/50) Now I am being audited...help!?

I have to fill out paperwork, and they're asking if "the qualifiying person lived with me the entire year?" He is with me during the school week, and with his dad one night a week, and on weekends, but the TIME spent at each household is almost equal. How do I explain this in this "form letter" from the state of CA so that I still qualify?
