The President has signed a declaration of disaster to release federal funds to aid the residents of California, would he have done so if the residents affected were poor and black?

He signed a similar disaster declaration for all of the Gulf Coast States after Hurricane Katrina. The big difference is that the Governor of California asked for Federal assistance on Monday. Governor Blanco of Lousiana waited until several days after Katrina hit to ask for Federal assistance.
BTW, some of the houses lost in Ramona were built from the ground up by the folks who lived in them. Not everyone who was displaced by this disaster was rich and white.

Of course he would have!! Because our Governor was smart enough and humble enough to ASK for help. You can't compare CA's fire disaster to Katrina.

According to news reports at the time of Katrina, Louisiana's Governor initially refused help. And thousands of Louisiana's residents refused to evacuate when told to. And, yes, FEMA dropped the ball on Katrina, but blame the Governor of Louisiana and her "we'll handle it ourselves" attitude, plus that moron that was the head of FEMA at the time.

Secondly, when CA residents were told to evacuate....they evacuated immediately.....some even before the order came down. They were smart enough to know that you do not second guess FIRE and Santa Ana winds, sometimes up to 100 miles per hour.

Thirdly, the attitude of Californians cannot be compared to the attitude that was prevalent in Louisiana. Californians first of all help themselves, and each other. When disaster is imminent, they listen to the experts and they ACT on the advice they are given. And thank you FEMA for your prompt response!

As many times as New Orleans has faced disasters over the years, the residents SHOULD HAVE BEEN PREPARED and ready to evacuate when advised to, as Californians were.

While I am unhappy with several things about the Bush administration, I think it's about time that people realized that he is but one man. It's about time the people of this country started thinking about some of the idiots that they have voted into our Congress, which is leading our country into disaster as we speak.

Let's start putting the blame where it belongs!

Do you live near the disaster? If you did you would understand why he did it. Millions of people/animals have lost there home. For your information Southern California is not just populated by Caucasian. There are many middle class Hispanics, Asian, and yes African-American.

I know this a difficult concept for you to grasp but try and work with me here. In California, people of all races can live in together in the SAME neighborhood without nooses being hung in someones front yard.
Take a deep breath if you need to for this next one.....In California, there are rich people of all colors (gasp!!!).

Oh and another arrogant question arises.....

You really think that no poor black people live where the fires are?

Or do you just hope to believe that only white people live in California?

Wow.....

Just something else to blame on Bush....
Shut up....

The governor of California ask for it. That is the way the system works, Louisianas gov did not ask till the damage was done.
It was cheney lighting all the fires.

have not you heard those Blacks serving under Bush are no longer something greater suitable than uncle toms....they do no longer signify the foremost flow blacks...by no potential recommendations that Colin Powell moved up the ranks from poverty and Condoleeza Rice is a survivor of the church burning that claimed her acquaintances.

If it's New Orleans you are comparing this to, remember that that city has been destroyed 27 times I think since 1700s.

Uggh...Why does everything come down to a poor black race card issue!! He did it for Katrina and would do it for every natural disaster.
