As my father is a registered firearms dealer, I have grown up around guns all my life. I am used to handling them, shooting them, and as such I know their power and limitations. I also know how to use them safely for competition shooting. I was granted a firearms liscence at the age of 14. Why then, do people assume that if I am familiar with weapons that I will go on a murderous rampage? As I have been taught the strict measures for handling firearms I am now much safer than I would have been otherwise. Surely this is a good thing? Would it not make sense to train all youngsters in this way, as I am convinced that this would greatly lower the number of violent crimes. People assume that knowledge of firearms automatically leads to violent crime, but as I have explained, the exact opposite effect occurs.

Access to firearms more than knowledge of firearms can lead to violent crime

I think training a young person in firearm safety is great. I had my daughter trained at an early age and my 5 year old daughter will be trained as well. Safety first always. 2D

Because although the vast majority of people won't go out on a murderous rampage with a gun there are lunatics who will and we are protecting (trying that is) ourselves against that tiny minority.
