I have had 2 ultrasounds- the first one I was too early to tell the sex- the second one the dr had to poke at her to get her move (she had her back turned, and legs crossed) Then when she finally moved the dr said she could tell it was a girl.

The reason I'm scared it may not be a girl is because people have been commenting on how I'm carrying her- I'm all stomach- the rest of my body is the same as before- I haven't changed in hips, thighs, etc, and can still fit my regular pants with extra room- Anyway people I know that have had babies have had instances where the baby came out the opposite sex than expected....

Has this happened to you? How accurate are the doctors?

FYI I was told it was a girl when I was about 20 weeks or so.
It doesn't matter what the sex is I just want a healthy baby but I'm preparing for a girl.... what do I do with gifts if it's a boy?

have you gotten one of those 4D ultrasounds? They can see the baby clear as day, including facial features. I would think they would be able to give you an accurate picture of the boy or girl 'parts' as well!

I had the same worries, and I had the "sex" ultrasound done at 20 or 21 weeks also. They're pretty accurate when you're that far along. So I would just go with the girl stuff. If you're still having doubt, just ask your Dr. how sure he or she was about your baby being a girl. They'll usually tell you if they can't see clearly enough to be sure, so if they said for sure that it was a girl, most likely it is. I worried about the same thing, and now I have a beautiful 7 1/2 month old baby girl! So if you're still worried, talk to doc! Good luck and God bless you guys!

the myths about the way you carry or what you crave affecting sex of baby are just myths are are right 50% of the time. at 20 weeks us pics can be very clear. did you see what the doctor looked at to check sex of baby? if you did and it looked like three lines or "a hamburger" i'd say chances of you haveing a girl are 90% or more. if the doctor or us tech said i don't see a penis so its a girl the chances go down. there is a chance it is wrong i mean short of gene testing at this point there is no sure fire way to be 100% sure so if your really worried about it being wrong ask people who give you gifts to save the recites or get gift recites that some stores offer it list the items but not the price

How you carry depends on your body type not on whether you are having a boy or a girl. I was bigger with my son and carried him higher but that's because I ate more and he was my first baby. My daughter I carried very low (I think because her brother drew arrows pointing down) and didn't put on much weight but that's because I counted calories. If the doc says your having a girl I would say accept that. The doctor can be wrong but they are pretty accurate now adays. If your worried about what color your newborn wears if a boy happens to come out well then have some yellow or green or white available just in case.

yes it has happened along time ago to me anyway 12years all the way UNTIL the baby came out the Dr, the ultra sounds, etc stated i was having a girl her name Alexis Rose. The baby comes out and I have a boy. I did NT have any names planed for a boy. But 12 years Later Jeremy is a healthy preteen who is loved so much. It should not matter boy/girl as long as baby is healthy. Good luck to you by the way i would pick a name for both sex's.

I would go by what the doctor says, every old wives tale out there said I was having a girl carried all over fast heartbeat. Had my sono at 20 weeks and hi is definitely a he go with what the doctor says if he didn't give you a percentage like 80% chance it is a girl and so on then I would say that they saw what they needed to see to give you an accurate answer on the sex of your baby

Have you already told people its a girl? The dr's told me its a 70% percent chance I'm having a boy. WHAT is that??? either there was a penis or not. So I have told everyone that it looks like a boy but, that we are not 100% sure. That way hopefully people will get the clue to purchase neutral things. We also have picked an underwater theme for the nursery so that if it is a girl it won't be too boyish.... just in case.

The doctors are usually fairly accurate, but not 100%. Both my boys refused to cooperate with the U/S techs and were surprises. My little girl did cooperate, but I knew there are no guarantees.

If you get specific girl gifts and the baby turns out to be a boy, just ask about exchanging them.

Even though the doctor says it's a girl, always be prepared for the oppisite. You should get stuff that fits for a baby boy or girl. Like pick a theme, jungle surfari(baby animals and such) or under the sea. Either of those would work for both sexes.

Did you ask your doctor/technician how certain she was? It depends on what the doc saw in the ultrasound. They can never be 100% certain, but they can come close.

For example, my doc actually saw the genital area and thus they were pretty sure I was going to have a girl. They were right both times.

If you are worried, I would not take the tags off all of the clothes and keep the receipts.

If it is a boy you will love it just like you will love a girl. Our doctor told us if they say it's a boy, it's a 95% chance it's a boy. If they say it's a girl, it's an 80% chance it's a girl. So, nothing is ever definite.
Also, the way you carry or gain weight is absolutely no indication of gender. Those are all old wive's tales - ask your doctor.
