Go to Alaska! Isnt there 30 days of night (hehe, i want to see that movie) in alaska at a certain time of the year? I think there is. Work on that.

Space is cold, very cold, way below a minus 400 degrees Fahrenheit. The sun gives us our light, heat and indeed all energy. For it to be constantly night would require the sun no longer shine. Life on Earth would be impossible. It would be too cold. Yes we should be thankful for and appreciate the sun's energy.

An Egyptian Pharaoh, about 3,000 years ago, tried to change the religion of his civilization to sun worship because he knew it was the source of all life. He was a wise man. The Egyptian priests shot him down; they didn't appreciate his insight.

Much of our energy, for actually being alive, and remaining so, comes from the sun. We'd have to be different beings, in essence, to survive without its presence. Pretty important.
