I prefer female docs.
I really think that if a doctor had a good bedside manner and was caring and gentle that it really doesnt matter what sex they are.
As for the above answers with men being more gentle I disagree. I work in Labor and Delivery and the female doctors are much more gentle than the men.
I think women can relate better to other women as well. Most of the docs I work with are female and we only have a handful of male docs now, our patients are requesting females more and more.

I prefer female OB/GYNs. I've experienced the care of male OB/GYNs on two different occasions and my experience with both of them was not good. In both cases they didn't listen to me when I told them something wasn't right.
And neither of them were gentle with me when I have had my pelvic exam and pap smear done every year.
I find that a female physician when it comes to my gynecologic needs listen better than male doctors.
My thought is that if you are more comfortable with your female doctor and her skill is good (both bedside manner and skill are important to me which is a big reason why I prefer female physicians) then I would say stick with her.
But please continue to weigh your options so that you can have the doctor that works best for you on all levels.

I always had female and they were really pretty bad ... in an emergency I went to the only one who could see me at short notice, a male, and he's been so good I've never changed him.
He was the only one who took me seriously when I kept saying I could feel something was very wrong, while the female doctors just kept saying all women felt like that and my symptoms were too vague to investigate.
He's also better at giving examinations, he's not as rough and he's more sympathetic.

Haven't had a female, but you would think that they wouldn't be as gentle. I was just talking about this to a friend the other day, though. We thought it would be weirder to have a female than a male, but you would think that a female would be easier to talk to about private stuff like that.

You know...I don't envy you ladies...we went in for a sono-gram, and the doc decides to do the whole 6 month/year check up thing while I was in the room........not pleasant to watch. The guy all up in my girl talking to me about what baseball team I follow...very akward.

i love male OB/GYNs because they are so calm, cool, and collected.. they take their time and are gentle, the women are always disgusted, shoot, i would be too if i had women spread their legs in front of me all day... but like yeah women don't take their time and they're so dry with you

that's weird that you have an obgyn begging for your patronage. i personally prefer a woman as well because i think they can relate better to what it's like to have the hardware we've been built with.
