My step-dad's brother's daughter's daughter is names Emma Grace. That is what I wanted to name my baby. I thought her name was Emily and I didn't know her middle name. I really like the name and it has taken me forever to pick it out. Is it rude for me to do this and if so what name suggestions do you have? Twins 1 boy 1 girl. The boy we are naming Bryce Alexander. Thanks for your opinions.

Honestly, I really don't think it matters as long as the girls won't have the same last name. Emma Grace has become a very common name, so it's not like she's the only Emma Grace anyways.

If your naming your son Bryce, why not try to name your daughter with a name that starts with a B also. The first that comes to mind is Brenna or Brynna...kinda sounds like Emma.

If you really love the name and have always wanted your daughter to have that name then use it. If you feel bad, then maybe you should talk to your cousin, tell her that you had that name picked out for years and you still love it but you don't want her to think you are trying to be rude or step over her by using the name so you wanted to talk to her about it. I'm sure she'll be fine with it.

I love the name, Emma Grace. It is very cute. If it were me, I would name your child what you want to and not worry about what someone else will think. However, If the two will be together often, you might think about how your daughter could get confused and frustrated not knowing if someone is talking to her or to her cousin. She may end up wishing you had named her something else. If they will not be together often I would definitely not worry about it. I really do love this name. It sounds really good with Bryce Alexander, too. I hope you decide to use it.

Whether it is your intent to name the child after your cousin, it will appear that way. Having lots of people with the same name can cause confusion. Find another name you like and use the name that's been used as a middle name. IMHO.

Your cousin will not mind. If anything, she will be complimented because you liked her name so much that you decided that you would name your daughter after her. Bryce is a very nice name, but Alexander reminds me of a very annoying boy that was in my elementary school (dont ask how i even remember his name) lol
Emily Grace is a nice name too. Another option is Emily Rose.
I really love the names that you have picked out.

Personally, I would use another name. Actually, I would use another name anyway - Emma is WAY, WAY too common! Besides that, I'd be pi**ed off if I named my child something, and then somone (in the family, no less), used the same name!

Lastly, Bryce is a less used name , and in my personal opinion, does not go with the name Emma..... something more like Chandler would go better (yes, for a girl).....

I don't think it's rude at all! It's a cute name, and maybe your step-dad's brother's daughter will feel complimented that you like the name so much. If she's mad it's really immature for an adult. She's your daughter and you should name her exactly what you want to. Plus, that relation isn't that close...it's not like you're naming your daughter the same name as your sister's daughter or something like that.

Ever since "Friends", Emma is one of the most popular names in the US as of now, as is Grace. Your daughter will not be unique. I would pick another name.

Sure if you want to. But just a word of advice many people when they choose a name feel as though they have a certain ownership to that name and become quite pissed off when someone else uses it. But to answer your question yes you can name your child that. You just need to decide how to handle it if someone says anything to you.. Are you even close with this cousin?

Go for it but I would add another name in front of Emma. For example Ava Emma Grace.
