Question

I have to choose a topic (any kinds) about puerto rico and write some sort on info on that.

I was wondering if you know of any interesting topics or amusing topics or shocking topics about puerto rico.

Ok here are a few topics, then you can decide:

1. (like the 1st answerer said) The politcal topic of statehood vs. commonwealth vs independent. Some people want to be & a state while others want to be a seperate country & some want to remain a commonwealth of the US.

(& the first answerer said that they dont want to be a state b/c they dont want to pay taxes, yes this is true, but remember the US gets alot from PR too. 80% of America's medicine is made in Puerto Rico. All the major pharmacuetical company's are there. Not to mention: United States has always considered Puerto Rico a strategically advantageous military position in the Caribbean, even before invading the island in 1898. Puerto Rico's position gives to the U.S. military access to North, Central, and South America, as well as a prime location from which to defend U.S. interests in the region. Puerto Rico has become a crucial center for U.S. military surveillance, weapons testing, and training. They have 5 bases in PR)

2. Puerto rico heritage. Puerto ricans are a mixture of Taino indian, spanish(white) & black(former slaves from Africa). The US claimed that the Taino's died off & that only white & black were left on the island. But, according to the University of PR, they tested alot of puertoricans DNA & found out about 61% are Taino indian! However the US still refuses to accept this. On alot of US applications & test they ask hispanic? Yes or No. Then they ask if you are hispanic are you black or white? How can a puerto rican answer this question? They are mixed of 3 races & the majority race is neither black or white.

3. Cockfighting. Rooster fights are a huge pastime in PR. In fact everytown has their own rooster fighting coliseum.

4. You can write about music in PR. Salsa , bomba, plena, etc

5. An amusing topic can be the Chupacabra. People claim this animal exists that comes out at night & sucks the blood out of animals. People found dead animals completly drained on the island but noone has found the animal although many claimed to see 1.

6. You can write about the rest of the animals in PR. Like the coqui frog. This is a major symbol of PR & loved on the island. & the endangered puertorican parrot. & how there is an iguana problem on the island when iguana's are not native here, but they have flourished.

The absolute best way to turn him on is to surprise him. Make the move on him in an unusual location or setting. Break any scheduling habits you may have also. The more you talk about it, he will probably grow uncomfortable. If you play the feminist point of view...He is not going to go for it.

if youve heard of it erm its got the sharks and jets in it omg wats it called lol thats it south side story the sharks where from there and they had to leave to get a better life yet they actually didnt get that greater life and still werent treated like normal americans so u could write about them times for people like thatsome went to desperate measures like hiding in the wheels of planes and stuff to get away so look it up some things are quiet distrubing but very true and touching

You could talk about their statehood movement. It's rather interesting that they have had several referendums about being a state and most people DON'T want it to be a state (because they'd have to pay US taxes then).
