I don't know where your pain is coming from. or how old you are.
One thing I used to do when I was still in high school.
When my period comes AND I feel lower abdominal cramping - I NEVER nurse my pain - - so I'd do MORE physical activities.
I'd play volleyball, basketball or just walk.
The walking massages the stomach muscles AND eventually the pain goes away.

If it's just abdominal cramping, that should REALLY help. My sister and her daughter suffer from stomach crampings during their cycle. I always tell them to get up and stay active AND NEVER nurse the pain. But they continue to just lay around or just sit down AND they continue to have their monthly pain. They must like the pain better.

However, my girls (20 yr old and 16 yr old) maybe complained to me in their younger years of abdominal pain with their period. When I explained my theory to them - - they get up and do physical activities. The now NEVER complain of stomach pain, cramping, etc.

You should try that - - it's the natural way of dealing with pain. If that does not work, you may want to see a doctor for other issues. I think that will help tremendously.

You can try something like Midol or Pamprin (not sure if you are in the U.S. or another part of the world) as well as a heating pad or warm baths. However, if the cramping is so bad that you can't function I would recommend seeing your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they think could be going on.
