They don't stop growing. Near the end of pregnancy they quit getting longer so much and start just packing on more weight and baby fat in preparation for life outside the womb. I think 5lbs at 32 wks is a bit on the big side(I was told mine is just over 5lbs at 37wks), but I'm no doctor. I'd suggest bringing it up to your OBGYN and also looking at your family history. Did you or your partner's family have a history of large babies? Did you test positive for gestational diabetes or boarderline even? Are you eating lots of sugar and empty calories? these are all things that you should bring up with your dr.

The baby is not supposed to stop growing. That is a bad thing. Gestational diabetes is a usual factor for women that have large babies but not all the time. My cousin was a 10 baby and my aunt didn't do anything to cause it.

Hmm, as far as I know they keep growing and growing....did someone tell you they stop? It's not like a turkey popup timer....ding, it's done LOL
What makes you have a large baby? Genetics mostly, but gestational diabetes could make the baby larger too. My daughter was 9 pounds 10 ounces and I was not diabetic. My boyfriend was 13 pounds when he was born and his mother was not diabetic or even overweight.

They slow down the closer you get to your due date. They may stop growing 2-3 weeks before you are due. Depending on how much room he/she has in the womb to continue to grow. Good nutrition helps you have a healthy baby. I really don't know or never heard of anything making you have a larger baby. It also depends on the mother and father, and their birth weight when they were born as well.

As far as having a large baby, there could be a number of factors relating to this. Mother and father's birth weight, gestational age of the fetus, diabetes...if your have concerns, which you obviously do, you should talk to your doctor about them.

if someone has told you ,that you will have a big baby take no notice don't worry about it ,i have a very large sister, not only one midwife but many told her she would have a large baby,she had four girls and the largest was 8lb which isn't large at all the others were all 7lb on average,so please don't worry just wait and see an enjoy your pregnancy's

Babies never stop growing the continue to grow until they are born then they continue to grow outside the womb.

they don't stop baby grow until the day they are born and then of course all their life and its genetics that determine the baby's size at time of delivery along with good healthy eating habits no smoking or drinking .

um.. they grow the entire time... and then continue to grow after they come out.
large babies can be a genetic thing, or if you eat poorly, this can cause a big baby. Also GD can cause a big baby as well.
