I got my period back after nursing on September 22. It last long then it usely does, ( six days) so will this mean I will now have a period every month like I use too or will it be messed up for a while. If it is suppose to be back the way it was that would mean I'm late right?

It may take a while for your cycle to become regular. When my periods first returned after each of my births, my cycles were longer (some as long as 55 days between periods) and my flow was heavier. They gradually shortened and became more normal. Your periods may also be irregular because if you nurse more one month, you may have a longer cycle between periods.....less another month then they may be closer together. I wouldn't consider you late yet at this point since you don't know what your "new normal" is yet. If you don't see it in a week or so and you've been "exposed" then you might consider taking a test to ease your own mind.

It'll be spotty at first, more likely than not. And it might not be regular for a few months. Ive only had 3 periods since having my baby (we still nurse, just much less) and theyre not regular yet. Different lengths, and at different times.

Just give your body a chance. It doesnt mean you cant get or be pregnant though, so if you think you're late you can always test just to be sure.

They might be irregular for a year or so after you have the baby, it could be less , it just depends on the person. It won't be the same every pregnancy either.
Your body is trying to go back to normal, it can take up to a year or more for it to do so.

All our bodies are different some women never get back to normal. while others never stray. If you are having concerns and want to regulate your period you may want to ask your physician about hormone pills to get you back on track.
