This is going to sound stupid but... I grew up in a huge house. At night, the long hallways, and the dark rooms, especially the study, were very creepy. My brother and I would play a game at night where we would try to sneak around the house undetected. If our parents didn't yell at us to go to bed, we were able to reach our creepy goal, of the dark study. I remember us 4 and 5 years old, walking down the long dark hallway to the study. Mostly with our eyes closed, standing really close together, trying not to freak out. Our last obstacle before the study was my parents room. If they weren't in the living room they were in here, we bolted or crawled past. Then we'd get to the study, and it was like, ok were here.
I don't think the study was the scary part, just getting there was scary. Plus it was fun being stealthy.

The movie "Gorillas in the Mist" has a scene where a tribe is having a festival. The camera pans over the scene and suddenly a women painted entirely red, with red clumpy, spiky hair appears in a shocking manner. It was unexpected and a dramatic site. The vision of the red woman lingers whenever I am startled.

Freddy Kruger. I was scared when I watched the movie, and then one night, we went to the movie rental place. It was almost Halloween, so they had a display set up as Freddy in a chair. I thought it was just a dummy, so I said to myself, I'm gonna prove I'm not scared anymore. So I went up to it, and touched it with my finger, and it jumped up at me and screamed. It was someone in a costume. I ran through the store and found my parents, and the person came and said they were really sorry. That did it for me though. I was scared of him then and still am.

The wicked witch and those flying whatevers in Wizard of oz, and Alice in Wonderland used to scare the beejeebers out of me. But after I graduated from high school it wasn't as terrifying anymore, since I realized that any movie couldn't be quite as terrifying as real life.

After seeing The Exorcist, I thought that if I let my guard down, i.e. fell asleep, that the devil would possess me. For about two months after I saw that movie, I tried to stay up all of the time. That movie warped my psyche!
There was also this Zuni fetish doll that came to life and chased Karen Black around her apartment in Trilogy of Terror. This was waaaay before Chuckie and much scarier because it didn't try to be humorous.
Also, after seventh grade biology class, I became terrified of tapeworms. I didn't know about them before that. The idea of something living inside of me, ON me, like an alien ... ewwwww!

Yes, my very, very blonde haired, blue eyed sister use to tell me that I was really adopted from a bunch of Indians that lived in the woods behind our home because I was the only female on both sides that had brown hair and brown eyes. She said they would come back for me one day. I spent many scary hours looking out of my window, waiting to see them come and get me.
There were no Indians and I was not adopted. My sister was just mean.

Those Vincent Price films where he played the vampire, I'd make sure my neck was well covered up when I went to bed after!
And years later the Crimewatch programmes are pretty shocking, I lock up the house and run upstairs to bed and I'm 40 now.

When I first started school and they had a Santa come into the classroom I was petrified of him. Why I don't know . I jumped up and sat in the seat next to me next to another student. I still remember that
