I believe they are. But hey, I am one of those people that likes to make lemonaid when handed lemons.

considering I reside in CA I have those lemonheads Boxer and Feinstein as my representatives.

Since they seem hell-bent on granting amnesty...I figured I should get in on the ground floor of this thing.

That's why I sent them both the following letter:

Dear Senator Feinstein,

As a native citizen of the United States and excellent customer of the Internal Revenue Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have contacted the Department of Homeland Security in an effort to determine the process for becoming an illegal alien and they referred me to you

My primary reason for wishing to change my status from U.S. Citizen to illegal alien stem from the bill which was recently passed by the Senate and for which you voted.

If my understanding of this bill's provisions is accurate, as an illegal alien who has been in the United States for five years, all I need to do to become a citizen is to pay a $2,000 fine and income taxes for three of the last five years. I know a good deal when I see one and I am anxious to get the process started before everyone figures it out.

Simply put, those of us who have been here legally have had to pay taxes every year so I'm excited about the prospect of avoiding two years of taxes in return for paying a $2,000 fine. Is there any way that I can apply to be illegal retroactively? This would yield an excellent result for my family and me because we paid heavy taxes in 2004 and 2005.

Additionally, as an illegal alien I could begin using the local emergency room as my primary health care provider. Once I have stopped paying premiums for medical insurance, my accountant figures I could save almost $10,000 a year Another benefit in gaining illegal status would be that my daughter would receive preferential treatment relative to her law school
applications, as well as "in-state" tuition rates for many colleges throughout the United States for my son.

Lastly, I understand that illegal status would relieve me of the burden of renewing my driver's license and making those burdensome car insurance premiums. This is very important to me given that I still have college age children driving my car.

If you would provide me with an outline of the process to become illegal (retroactively if possible) and copies of the necessary forms, I would be most appreciative.

Thank you for your assistance.

Your Loyal Constituent,

Still waiting on a response...

There is always people who get over-confident. I wouldn't be surprised if some Democrats are cocky right now; just like the Republicans have been cocky for quite a long time (until the 2006 elections).

But there are some smart people in the Democratic party and they will keep their heads (there are smart people in both parties... of course, there are more idiots in both too).

Yes it is.

Darth Vader - the Senate passed their version of the bill with the help of every Democrat in the Senate. Many of the republicans voted against it.

The house flat out told them to FOAD. They refused to pass any bill that had any form of amnesty in it. Several Democrat sponsored bills were killed in the house by the house Republicans.

Amnesty is a Democrat issue that the President and a few Democrats playing Republican support.

The Democrats will change all that as soon as they start to get a sense that there will be proper over sight by the FEC and the illegals can't vote.

Then the Democrats will call for the execution of anyone who even resembles and illegal alien.

You must have missed the fact that Bush and McCain also supported the immigration bill, and Rudy ran a sanctuary city for illegals while mayor of NY

I am not a terrorist loving ballsucker, thank you very much.

That is one problem. Another is, many americans work for a living and know that every program the dem candidates propose is gonna have to be paid for somehow. Another still, is that many americans like capitalism more than socialism. Finally, half of the americans can't stand Hillary.

edit: for the people pointing fingers at president Bush, yes, he was for amnesty...but in congress, the absolute vast majority pushing for it over and over again were democrats, 10-1.

edit 2: Bush isn't up for re-election ;)

Possibly, I doubt that a majority of democrats support illegal aliens. I believe this is a big time loser for democrats, and one reason I'm an independant.

It was Democrats that shot down Bush's 2nd Amnesty Bill.

Republicans approved the first one.

I love how they're pinning THIS on Bush, too... though I was very disappointed that he supported it.
He didn't write the bill.
They did.
And we, the American people, killed it... not the Democrats.
Now they're trying to force-feed it to us one piece at a time.
The SCHIP expansion was part of that.
There is another hitting the floor today for a vote.

The Democrats have about as much chance of being elected in 2008... as I do... and I'm not running.
