i am on both sides. because if you DID have school uniforms, it would be much easier to get ready in the morning and you wouldnt have to worry about what people think you look like. but it would also cost the school system (and maybe even your parents) lots of money.
but i also wouldnt like having uniforms because a lot of people express themselves through their clothes. and to tell people what they should wear just sounds wrong. i wouldnt like looking like everyone else. it would just be creepy.

It's sad that kids don't know what to wear today, and that this has come to be the only answer school board officials can come up with. You see, it's not just the kids. When kids go against just what the dress code is, and parents actually try to defend thier kids, well, then things must get tighter, and that's what school boards did, they tightened their reigns, because they had to. School uniforms are not a bad idea for those situations. They do a couple of things: 1. They make sure all kids dress alike so noone is comparing themselves to other kids. Rich and poor, putting everyone on the same playing field, so to speak. 2. They also induce an atmosphere of respect. Noone is dressed with bellys showing, or breasts hanging out or underwear showing. Everyone dresses neatly, which brings up confidence levels in kids. 3. Enhances respect in the classrooms. No distractions from the weird clothes some kids wear. 4. It takes the burden of what to buy kids to wear to school off parents, you should only have a few choices in uniforms. The uniforms of today are not those scratchy green/plaid things kids use to wear. It can be simple and comfortable: A pair of black, blue, or brown/khaki pants (no jeans), shorts or skirts (length appropriate) with a collard shirt (choice of 2 or 3 colors the school allows), and a belt. Voila, a uniform policy! Simple, easy to afford, allowing some choices, and neat and clean for everyone. In that respect, I am not against them. The best private schools in the country have uniform policies! Take a look!

Yes, and parents can't really complain, they never been so cheap. They're actually cheaper than everyday clothes, they use to be more expensive.
Another thing is that they should be enforced properly, I work at a school where the headteacher doesn't bother to enforce it and we end with girls wearing, pinafores, skirts and trousers in black, grey and navy in contrast with red. Luckily the boys only have trousers, but then again in the same colours: black, grey and navy. The whole things is gone so out of control that I saw kids coming to school with sandals and no socks, which was always a no no.

I love school uniforms? You never have to worry about what clothes to wear in the morning! It's much more cheaper to have uniforms then buy new clothes every year. Help students resist peer pressure to buy trendy clothes. Increase a sense of belonging and school pride.

Wearing school uniforms should be enforced. Our school uniforms represent from what school we came from. So we must wear it with pride..

I have a 7 year old and had to wear uniforms in first grade. I did not like it. My daughter hated the outfits and I hated having to buy two sets of clothes. I do believe in a dress code, but not mandatory uniforms.

Uniforms are pointless. All they do is cost the parents more money because they have to buy extra sets of clothes. To those who think it will eliminate problems with decency, you're wrong. Girls will still roll their skirts up to show more leg if that's what they want. To those who think it will end discrimination, you're wrong. Anyone who thinks that kids make fun of each other based solely on clothes doesn't know kids. If they want to mock someone, they will find a reason. To those saying that it will make them focus on studies more than looks, that's something that parents should be teaching their children regardless of school policy.

We have a very strict school uniform policy at our school and it works. If kids can learn to follow simple rules and instructions like "you can't wear any color socks, but the white ones we've authorized" it's alot easier for them to follow other rules like don't smoke pot and don't dance in the carpool line. Our kids at our school are so well behaved and everyone uses their manners. It's nothing like the public school across from our house that gives me nightmares where the children dress like prostitutes at kindergarten age!

They should and they shouldn't. On one hand, the uniforms will let less attention on the students and more on schoolwork. But in the other hand, kids should be able to wear what they want to express their individuality but only to a certain level.

yes i think that school uniforms are a good idea.
why:because people aren't singled out for what they wear.
why not:because they aren't always the nicest.
either way i don't really mind.
