If officials said the fires are NOT terrorists why is the "Homegrown Terrorist Prevention Act of 2007" being rushed into legislature.
section 899A claus 1:
HOMEGROWN TERRORISM- The term `homegrown terrorism' means the use, planned use, or threatened use, of force or violence by a group or individual born, raised, or based and operating primarily within the United States or any possession of the United States to intimidate or coerce the United States government, the civilian population of the United States, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.
sounds great but read between the lines...the Secretary and his various deligates can easily identify an group of peaceful protestors and say "We have evidence that suggest these individuals were planning on using force to coerce the population into their idealism."
and boom--instant terrorists "BECAUSE WE SAID SO"...and once considered terrorists by the defence department, the constitution is void.

Since it was introduced on 4/19/2007, scheduled for debate on 8/1/2007 and passed by the house on 10/23/2007, I don't see where you get "rushed". See http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?tab=main&bill=h110-1955
Since it passed 404 to 6 you can't really place the blame on either party. Probably the most non-partison vote in a long time.

The measure has been around for awhile. See above. If Congress is rushing anything it is because tomorrow is their Friday. So. Cal fires have been around for ever. Almost as long as some of these dim whits on both sides of the aisle. Last report was one lone guy on a motorcycle was being looked at. Not a conspiracy of extremists raging war on the United States.
edit: if this stuff passes expect it benefits Democrats already assuming the Presidency is theirs in '09 it's a crap shot what Bush/Cheney may do but a nightmare of a thought how a Clinton will abuse the priviledge

Worst than this!
It means that if in a peaceful protest, ONLY ONE person is involved in a violent event (maybe an outsider), the whole group will be considered a terrorist organization, and properties confiscated by the federal!! So only ONE person is needed to enable this law!! And from what we have seen here, it could take only one policeman undercover to make the job by infiltrating the group and making a violent act or instigating hatred or violent speech and your done!! Everybody just lost their homes! This is purely intimidations, and now only the lobbies and large corporations will have a voice! Constitution is no longer valid!

It's even worse then that. By a Bush Executive Order, the Prez is allowed to designate anyone a terrorist-no habeas corpus, no right to see the evidence, no need to explain the evidence to anyone. Check out today's Washington Post editorials re: the Islamist charitable organization that was charged with terrorixm.

My goodness and I was so naive to think they were all from overseas! I guess Americans are just as bad huh according to them.......Is this what it was like for those "peaceful Protesters" involved in The Civil Rights Movement in the 60's too. Email, call and fax 'em...

Shows just how currupt this administration is and how idiotic are the democrats for not filibustering all this unconstitutional legislation the way republicans would if the tides were turned.
BTW the current secretary of State is a female.
Rice.
As useless as a box of rocks.
Another Alberto Gonzalez.
