NHL Central Scouting has him ranked 15th...........we at the NHL consider that world-class.

As a habs fan I have a love hate relationship with him. When he is on there is probably no better stick handler in the game. This year he as started well and the effort has been there every night.

In the past he has been known to take a lot of nights off and can appear lazy. In recent years I think his health has contributed to this. After getting the rep as a player who takes a night off any bad game is attributed to that while I think the body is beginning to wear down and he can't play at that level for 80 games.

I was glad to see his " should have called a timeout "comments a couple of weeks ago, it shows he cares. I don't think he meant any disrespect by it.

Love to see that shot from the faceoff circle.

AK 27 is definetly a world-class talent, he just has a terrible coach. He needs to go back to Pittsburgh, where he had his best year.

nope that is impossible
their are too many people on earth for you to just think Alexei Kovalev is world class

Yes, yes you are.

ADD:In reply to your email to me, i never said he sucked, i just dislike him. And Crosby isnt known as a goal scorer! So Obviously Kovelev should get more goals than Crosby. Adn This is Crosby's 3rd season, ffs.

I think hes not among the best because hes washed up, old, and on the habs. lmfao jks. but still hes getting pretty old and cant play that great anymore.

But if you think Kovalev is one of the greatest, you keep telling yourself that.

That's funny... his nickname is AK 27 and Andrei Kirilenko's (basketball) nickname is AK-47.

He's a really good player but not world-class.

I've compared him to Plaxico Burress, not Terrell Owens. But both Owens and Burress play as much defense as Kovalev.

I bet people in Russia think he is world class.
That stunt he pulled a while back about bashing his team, coach, and others to a reporter in Russia, made me lose some respect. Good hockey player, but no, not world class.

He is a very talented hockey player.
But I wouldn't exactly use the word "class" in a sentence involving Kovalev.
Save that for players like Joe Sakic and Steve Yzerman.

Easily a top 3 guy, skillwise. All you need is to see one practice session to be convinced of that.

Unfortunately, his focus has not been there, particularly during the regular season. He's come out of the gates pretty strong this year, though, so you never know.

It'd be nice to see him post the stats he's capable of just one time.

World class talent, YES
World class effort, dedication and self motivation, NO
What a waste of god given talent
Occasionally you see that flash of brilliance but not often.
