IT WAS PLASTERED EVERYWHERE!!! What the crap do you want?????? The perpetrators have been caught, she is trying to heal. Do you want it all over the news EVERYDAY again?????? I don't think she would appreciate you asking the media to keep her face in the news 24/7. Where have you been not to have seen it on the news for about 3 solid weeks???? And when they are sentenced it will be in there again. I'm sick to death of people playing the race card. Waaaa, waaa, i'm black and i don't get enough exposure.
WHATEVER. Save it for when it really needs to be used. When someone really isn't in the news because they are black, or when someone is TRULY victimised. This girl has been through total HELL and the whole country knows about it and will likely not forget it - The last thing she needs is to be reminded that everyone knows what they did to her when she goes out in public. Atleast those scumbags are in jail and being charged. If they weren't, I could see your complaint.
I don't think ANYONE, black or white, is on their side. We all support her and want her to heal. Like I said, play the race card when there really is an issue - you're wearing it out so bad that nobody's gonna listen anymore

The media have a fine line to walk with respect to the issue you raise. Take a look at the Duke lacrosse case, as example. The DA, community, media, etc. immediately took up for the black female "victim" of the well-to-do white Duke lacrosse boys. In the end, the entire case fell apart miserably and the boys were declared innocent (not just not guilty) by the Attorney General's office. I am NOT saying that the victim has lied in the case you are referring to or anything even close to that. It just seems the media can be damned if they do AND damned if they don't.

I echo the sentiment...would you want your face all over the place? Fact of the matter is that racism happens in BOTH directions. It seems to me that there are a lot of black people speaking out against racism and stereotypes that somehow fall into those stereotypical roles. Remember also that most of the crimes committed against against black people is committed by black people - that is a fact! I am so sick of people trying to make me feel bad because I am white and my family is successful and thriving. If "oppressed" black people want to rise above their circumstances, they have to make it happen - instead they rely on the same government they accuse of being racist to take care of them. I have many friends of all colors, all of whom are educated and their attitude on these matters is much different than the poor black attitude. There are many stories that don't make the news about horrific crimes like this happening against white people. If you don't like the way the government is run, work for change, but you have to stop throwing out the racial angle or we all will get nowhere!

I think to when the trials begin it will be in the news more. But also remember that economic status play a huge role too. If you aren't a rich girl running your car into a pole after drunk driving than it isnt a story to chase.
I am more concerned that she gets justice. If they charge this as a hate crime the evil men that did this would possibly get less time in prison. They need to make sure these men stay in prison for as long as they live.

I didn't hear about that. But race incited violence? That's disgusting. I agree with you whole heartedly, if it was a white victim abused by blacks, it would on the front pages, same with the Jena 6 situation, i have no doubt if the victim was black and the perps were white it would not have been as publicised as it was. In fact Jena 6 has opened our eyes to the fact that racism is a wound that has and always will be picked on. Its a shame people can't see past colour, people are always talking about moving forward, but global society as a whole is nothing but backwards. Shame on us as the so called superior species.

Put the race card down, Darlin', it has nothing to do with that. It's about not giving ignorant people (the perps) 15 minutes of fame. It is about not broadcasting it to help prevent copycat crimes. When you are dealing with people of that mentality, gang members, you will see them trying to outdo one another so it is best kept quiet.
ANother major reason is to keep some privacy for the victim. I think the media (in America) is getting more conscience about that.

Aware of what? some sick twisted, trailer trash, drug users?
If you were Kidnapped, sodomized, and made to eat poop would you want your story and your face plastered all over?
Give the poor girl some peace, everyone that was involved is now in prison for this hanness crime.
