I'm a black woman, and most men I have dated were white, my bf now is white. My step father is white, so I never had any family issues, at least not with my immediate family. As for friends, if they are really your friend they will support you, if a person outside your race makes you happy, than your true friends will be happy for you, if they have racist comments, then they aren't your friends anyway and just forget about them.

I only date my race... I'm a part of the human race, and all humans are the same race. I have dated different color people, and there were no problems based on that. Some people are stupid and have prejudices, just ignore it. they need to grow up. However there can be problems dating someone of a different background, ie Ghetto and suburbs. It's hard but not impossible. and nothing wrong with it

For years I've told myself it wouldn't be an issue, but I never met anyone outside my race that I wanted to date.

Not long ago, I found myself very interested in someone who isn't the same race/color as I, and it didn't cause me to pause when thinking about dating him. I know my mother won't like it but if it moves forward, she'll have to deal with it. As much as I love her, I'm an adult and will date whomever I desire.

I used to be apprehensive, because I knew it was still somewhat looked down on by some people, and you still receive a bit of stigma from it when you go out in public. But my family and friends are really accepting, which makes me more open to dating guys from all ethnicities.

Take this from someone who knows. It is better to stay in your race. Races are raised differently and you usually end up losing your own identity. I am married to a Mexican and there are wonderful Mexican people out there but my next husband is going to be white and made in America..

I think that we are now in an age and time when you need not worry about what your parents or relative would say about who you fall in love with and want to spend the rest of your life with. Especially if you're living in the western world.
Elsewhere, it may still be a bit more difficult.
Hopefully you can do as you please, and find the love of your life.
Good luck.

While love would be blind in a real world, the reality is that interracial relationships when family members don't approve are extremely difficult on the couple. Few people want to stay in a relationship in which they are disliked or treated poorly based on the color of their skin or their nationality.

I have not dated outside my race personally, but if I wanted to I would,I would ask people to respect that part of my life the way I respect theirs. I really believe people put way to much on what other people think of their relationships. My family wouldn't dare say it too me even if they thought it. If they did I would kindly tell them, while I respect their opinion please don't judge me, or talk down to or about me because we have different opinions! And please respect my mate! Because I have do! Really any parent, sister or friend should just want someone who treats their family member well and makes them happy! end of story. I mean besides life is to short to live me and for them!!

Don't be afraid.

Those who make any stink about it, are truly trapped in a world of prejudice, and by personal experience, it is truly a wonderful testimony of being free from the old past.

It's not about race that is any issue anyways. It's about culture conflicts.

i have dated people outside my race and didn't care what anyone thought about it. i live in a smaller city in the middle of kansas where people still look at you funny if you are with a person of another race. however, i really don't care. i'm the one dating them, not everyone else.
