Some do, most don't. The questions that need answering are "how is it unbalanced", "why is it unbalanced", "who thinks it's unbalanced", and "does the person who is coming up short have reason to adjust the balance."

Most relationships are unbalanced in some way or another. Our society, for instance, encourages relationships where one person makes a lot more money than the other. What you're likely taking about, though, is the kind of relationship where person A really likes person B, but person B barely tolerates person A. This is the hardest type to balance.

The essential problem is that there is usually no reason for person B to take more of an interest in person A, unless there's marriage, children, property, or something similar at stake. Person A can make a concerted effort at demonstrating value, but if the relationship has made it out of the courtship stage a lot of that will be disregarded or taken for granted.

I think that the simple answer is that there is no natural balancing mechanism, and lots of obstacles to artificial balancing mechanisms.

Isn't there naturally an imbalance in all relationships?
I mean at some level, one individual generally holds more "strength or independence" (I'm not certain what word to use to describe what I mean) don't they? I don't know that I've ever observed any relationship that didn't exhibit some type of imbalance like this, I've seen it switch from one to another, but I think in general all relationships have an imbalance.
However, if your in a relationship that is one sided, I wouldn't look for it to become balanced at all, the fact that you've identified this onesidedness, is a big fat red light. STOP

it depends on the positivity and negativity of the one-sided relationship (is the one sidedness for a good cause?). based on that, whether the weaker side steps up or steps down, it'll become balanced or fly off the charts

It depends on the individuals in the relationship and whether they are willing to work on balancing it...the individual with the power allowing themselves to give some of it up, and the individual without being willing to fight for some.

No a relationship is supposed to be a two way street not a 6 lane highway which goes in one direction. A one sided relationship will always fail.

question itself is Imbalanced. relationship means give and take. if someone is only give give give , it will exhaust him/her. if take take take , it will create indigestion. Nature does not believe in this type of Ecological imbalance. anywhere. or relationship will become Pseudo only
