you could try giving her (or him) absolutley nothing to give her any reaction of drama....though she'd just be a drama queen about nothing to do
If you add to the drama, depending on the person, she might be taken back, and settle down. Or she'd just feel the necessity to rise above others and create even more drama
The best you can do, I'd think, is change your view on the drama. Unless you're talking extremely dramatic people, in most cases, drama queens can be viewed as pretty random, funny people

you cant really diffuse a drama queen because if you try that just adds to the drama

Drama queens hate me. They're all "problems problems problems", and they don't accept that they're the source of most of their own problems.
I generally deal with them by being honest, and telling them what's at the core of their problems, and give them a reasonable path for fixing the problems. They don't want that. They want sympathy, validation, and commiseration. They usually stop talking to me, but I don't consider that much of a loss.

Laughter! is the only way. Any time you listen the drama just gets worse. If you sympathize they'll never shut up. If you disagree you'll be their crap list and they ratchet it up a notch. So just laugh, belly laugh, tears streaming down your face laughter!

Reach forward gently and with great care work the detonator gently back and forth until it comes free. She will then be de-fused. (among other things)

You laugh at them, they get annoyed, or you poke them with a big wooden stick when they're not looking, it really annoys them, or get a group of people to stare at one particulare feature of her and laugh
