We've had a few fires already in Nevada. But, they have been in mostly unpopulated areas. And the air in Southern Nevada was affected earlier in the year by smoke coming in from wild fires in California.
Unfortunately, little of California is truly uninhabited. There are 39 million people in the Golden State. More people than live in the entire nation of Canada.
My area has already sent 18 fire trucks with personnel to California. The western states have an excellent mutual aid agreement and system. If we have more fires I'm sure we will get help from our sister states here in the West.

I'm here in San Diego and have been getting calls from family in CO, WY and IL who are seeing the coverage on the national news and wanting to know if I'm okay.
My advise to you: stop watching the news for a bit unless your community is in the immediate vicinity of the fires. . . .you'll go insane if you don't get your mind off it for at least a while. Every channel I turn on it's news on the fires, which is of course necessary, but after 3 solid days of it I had to get away. Try watching a movie or something and check up on the news periodically for updates.

Well I live way across the country in Kentucky. We have had three days of constant rain and I feel so guilty and bad about it. I wish that there would be some way to move the rain to the states that are suffering from drought and fires. The news about the fire is constantly on the news channels and newspaper and online.

I live in Georgia and we see things on our local news when it comes on and then of course it's on all the time on Fox News, CNN, etc. It is sad for me to watch and I feel bad for all the people and wild animals out there. It's a little scary for me to watch, too and just wondering how are they going to stop the fires. It's like watching an Armageddon movie, but I know this one is real. I hope you can stay safe and keep yourself informed in case you also have to evacuate. Good Luck to you and yours. Best Wishes.
